Use Hook to New PDF (⌃⌘P) in supported web browsers to create a PDF of the current web page and immediately link it with Hookmark.
When you invoke this command, Hookmark will:
- Create a PDF of the current web page
- Save the PDF to the configured location
- Hook the new PDF to the current web page
- Tag the PDF with “Hookmark”
- Bookmark both the web page and the PDF
- Open the PDF
This command is designed to support fast capture, linking, and later retrieval of web-based information.
Where are new PDFs stored?
By default, Hookmark saves new PDFs in the PDFs subfolder of the configurable Notes folder.
You can change this behavior in the Advanced Settings tab. There, you can configure new PDFs to be stored:
- In a folder of your choosing, or
- In the default Notes folder (as configured on the Notes tab)
If you use DEVONthink, you may prefer to configure Hookmark to store new PDFs in DEVONthink’s Inbox.
How does Hookmark create the PDF?
Hookmark retrieves the page content directly from the server rather than from the browser.
As a result, if a web page requires authentication, Hookmark may not be able to capture the content you see in the browser, and the resulting PDF may be incomplete or empty.
Availability
Hook to New PDF is available in Hookmark Pro and trial versions.
It is not available in Hookmark Basic or Hookmark Standard.
