We have published a new help page that explains a major feature of Hookmark, which is the RELATED section of the context window. This section of the Context window displays links recommended by Hookmark based on the current (foreground window) item.
These recommended links are not necessarily bookmarked let alone hooked to anything.
Way better than web recommendation systems
Unlike web recommendation systems, Hookmark can recommend arbitrary information from any link-friendly app on your Mac, not just web pages but: files, emails, documents, tasks notes, datasets, figures, etc.
Moreover, web recommendation systems are meant to serve the web-site owner’s needs (showing you spam). Hookmark aims to show you what is most relevant to your current task.
The goal
The goal here is for you to be able to invoke Hookmark on any item and for it to guess what you might want to do next, based on your current focus and goals. It shows that information in the RELATED section of the context.
Enable or disable the RELATED section of the context window
You can show or hide the RELATED section of the context window by
- opening the Context window
- clicking on the gear menu
- clicking on View
- clicking on Hide Related Items or Show Related Items
You can also show/hide the RELATED section of the context window by typing using the View menu of the Bookmarks window..
Free in Hookmark Lite
The RELATED section of the context window is populated for free in the Hookmark Lite version.
Area of ongoing development
Populating the RELATED section of the context window is an area of ongoing development that receives attention (software development) from us, CogSci Apps Corp., in every release.
Of course, we intend to introduce AI support for the RELATED section of the context window before the end of the summer.
