Some examples
- When you are reading a PDF, Hookmark will scan the PDF in search of its
doi://. If it can find it, it will use the DOI to lookup the paper’s home page. Then it will show you that page in the RELATED section of the context window. - When you are reading a PDF, Hookmark will scan the PDF’s header, footer and PDF-meta data (such as “whereFrom” field), and elsewhere, in search for an https:// link. If it finds one it will look up that page and show you a link to it in the RELATED section of the context window.
- When you are reading a PDF, Hookmark will attempt to show you some of the top papers that cite the PDF and are cited by it. (Hookmark 7.3)
- Hookmark may show you some of the links that share text with the title of the current item. (Hookmark 7.3)
- If invoked on a file, Hookmark will show you files that share the same Finder tag as the current item.
- etc.
Benefits
This means that not only does Hookmark show you information that you explicitly hooked to the current item, it also shows you other links that may be relevant to your focus.
