Marked is especially useful when you want to separate writing from reading and reviewing. A document can look very different when you step out of the editor and see it as a reader would. Marked gives you that alternative view without requiring you to change your writing environment.
Its reading and review features also make it useful for longer documents. You can navigate through a manuscript, inspect its structure, review passages, and work with a document in a mode that is quite different from editing the underlying source.
That makes Marked useful not just for Markdown enthusiasts, but for anyone who spends substantial time writing, editing, reviewing, or publishing on the Mac.

Brett Terpstra
Many Mac users will already know Brett Terpstra from his long history of creating software and sharing tools, scripts, and ideas for writers, developers, and productivity enthusiasts.
Marked reflects a philosophy that we particularly appreciate: good software does not necessarily replace other apps you are using. Sometimes the best tools are those that work alongside the apps you already use and make those apps more useful.

Marked and Hookmark
Hookmark users already know the value of connecting the resources involved in a project rather than treating each application as an isolated information silo.
Marked adds another useful layer to that workflow. Suppose you are writing a book chapter or article in Markdown and reviewing it in Marked. The document itself may be connected to an OmniFocus project, research papers, notes and outlines, emails with collaborators, and related web resources.
Hookmark can connect those resources. Marked gives you a powerful environment in which to read and review the document itself.
For example, you might copy a Hookmark link to a chapter and put it in the corresponding OmniFocus project. You could link the chapter to supporting PDFs or research notes. Later, you can move directly between the task, the source material, and the document instead of rediscovering each item through Finder, Mail, or search.
Marked and Hookmark therefore solve complementary problems. Marked helps you work with the document in front of you. Hookmark helps you access the wider network of information around it.
